About the Book
Sandplay is an increasingly popular Jungian therapy. Developed in England by Margaret Lowenfeld and in Switzerland by Dora Kalff, it knows no barriers of age, gender of language, and by allowing non-verbal articulation it adds considerably to the material available to the analyst.
Joel Ryce-Menuhin, who trained with Dora Kalff, is the leading exponent of sandplay in Britain. In this engaging book he draws upon twenty years' experience in using this method of therapy to show how children and adults of all ages and backgrounds can benefit from Jungian sandplay therapy. He expresses his deep convictions about the healing of pathology, neurosis and grief through sandplay, and describes how he incorporated sandplay into his work as a non-verbal technique to help patients express 'beyond words and before words' the deepest archetypal images projected from the unconscious. At the heart of the book are four case studies, illustrating the range and effectiveness of sandplay in its human clinical dimension, and including a moving account of a woman's healing from grief, separation and mourning in sandplay.
